Do we want the next year to be, "The Year of the Bible?" A congressman from Georgia has written a bill and is currently finding co-sponsors and supporters, but so far is not finding many who will back him. This bill basically declares a specific year as The Year of the Bible in reference to the history associated with the Good Book. It states that the Bible was used in the making of our laws and the shaping of our country, and has a timeless message that should give hope to those of all faiths and backgrounds. No where in this legislative document does it say that other religions are of lesser value or importance to the American government or people, but it does say that the Biblical principle of acceptance and free will led to the founding fathers allowing freedom of religion.
Unfortunately, this bills seems doomed to failure with the silence of the Christian population and the loudness of the atheists.
"Right now, we're seeing atheism on such a rise," said David Silverman (VP of American Atheists) "We are seeing Christianity on such a dramatic decline that we're not particularly worried about it. We're thinking that this kind of old-style George W. Bush Republicanism is about to go away,"
This should mean something to us. The apparent downfall of Christianity is only just beginning. Christians used to have influence and impact in America, but we have lost our voices and our unity and have allowed our nation to continue into the downward spiral leading to evil, Godless times.
I definitely believe we have the power to reverse this. If we want to.
