As Mary sat at the feet of Jesus, Martha bustled about the house cleaning and preparing a meal for the Savior.  Martha did not understand; Jesus was the bread of life, is the bread of life.  When Martha objected to her sister Mary's behavior, Jesus told her that, "Only one thing is needed, and Mary chose the good part, and it will not be taken away from her."

ONLY ONE THING IS NEEDED                    LUKE 10:42

Jesus was talking about Himself; He is the only thing necessary in this life.  Everything we are called to, everything we are directed to pursue in the Bible is found in Him.  He is life; He is satisfaction for everyone.  Don't you see?

SEEK ME AND LIVE                                  AMOS 5:4

SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS AND ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED TO YOU                                  MATTHEW 6:33

He is the one thing we need.  We are to seek Him; everything else is secondary.

YOU THEREFORE, MY SON, BE STRONG IN THE GRACE THAT IS IN CHRIST JESUS
                           2 TIMOTHY 2:1

He is the one thing we need.  We are to seek Him.  Even in seeking Him though, no part of us in required.  We are strong in His grace because of His love and goodness.  Our search of Him is not even propelled by ourselves; our strength is not our own.

MARY HAS CHOSEN THE GOOD PART (CHRIST), AND IT WILL NOT BE TAKEN AWAY FROM HER
                          LUKE 10:42

When we choose Him, He will not be taken away from us.  He is the one thing we need that is always faithful and cannot be stripped away from us.

FOR I AM PERSUADED THAT NEITHER DEATH NOR LIFE, NOR ANGELS NOR PRINCIPALITIES NOR POWERS, NOR THINGS PRESENT NOR THINGS TO COME, NOR HEIGHT NOR DEPTH, NOR ANY OTHER CREATED THING, SHALL BE ABLE TO SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD WHICH IS IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD                       ROMANS 8:38-39

Nothing can separate us.  He is the only thing necessary because He is love.  A love we were created for.  A love we were created to crave.  A love that is stronger than death.  A love that never ceases to defy the impossible.  A love that will never and can never be taken away from us.

IF WE ARE FAITHLESS, HE REMAINS FAITHFUL; HE CANNOT DENY HIMSELF     2 TIMOTHY 2:13

Even when we give away our love, our life, our trust, our burdens, our identity to anyone or anything but Him, He takes us back.  Every time.  He cannot deny Himself.  Even we cannot separate ourselves from the love of God.  That's intense.

He is the one thing we need.  We are to seek Him.  He loves us.  He is faithful.

                                      This is life.

This is the life of simplicity that I have been yearning for.  My life is not even remotely about me.  That is why I was so confused and things got so complicated.  So I screamed inside, "Please, all I need is Jesus, give me Jesus."

And God said, "I already did."

FEED ON HIS FAITHFULNESS                        PSALM 37:3
